August 2009 / http://www3.mercedes-benz.com/mbcom_v4/de/techcenter2009/de.html

TechCenter / The user is accompanied by a host through the different topics in the online lexicon.

TechCenter / All the contents are presented on a virtual, spacious stage.

Briefing:

. Task: to relaunch the Mercedes-Benz "TechCenter" online lexicon in which current and future automotive technologies are presented with a new design and contents
. Target group: users interested in technology who want to obtain detailed information on the various themes
. Objectives: upgrade the technology lexicon to become a central online reference tool, giving it a more attractive appearance, extending the contents and introducing new forms of interactivity to guide users and provide information

Realisation:

. A technically versed expert guides the user and interacts with him
. In moderated film sequences he explains the individual features, accompanies the user in the TechCenter through the topics and demonstrates the benefits of the technology in a simple and vivid manner

Design:

. The explanations are provided factually, with focus on the technology and the product at all times
. The virtual space is reduced to the very basics and, as a result, offers a large number of possibilities to present the contents in versatile forms: holograms can be projected into the space, graphs or animations appear on the stage, for example

Special:

. The interactive and didactic processing of the contents as moderated film sequences provides a flexible and targeted presentation form for each individual theme
. It is an attractive media format for the users, making some of the more complex contents more accessible and easier to understand
. Technical feature: the combination of some partly interactive film contents with virtual objects and 3D-models, presentation/animation of the contents on a virtual stage in Flash/Papervision
